AmeriCheer Honors Athlete Scholarship Program

2017-18 Winners

AmeriCheer Family of Brands has selected two cheer and dance athletes for the AmeriCheer Athlete Scholarship Program. Each graduate plans on furthering their education at an accredited college or university. Selections were based on their outstanding cheer/dance performance and leadership, skill, community service and good academic standing. Nominees were asked to compete individually and receive a score of 85% or higher, must be a junior or senior, submit an essay on why they should receive the scholarship award, provide two teacher/coach references and participate in a phone or personal interview.

We are proud to announce our first winner is Kylee Lohman, a junior at Ross High School in Hamilton, Ohio says, “With being a varsity cheerleader, I have learned many leadership skills along with learning to communicate with various personality types, which I believe will be valuable to me not just now but for the rest of my life. One of my favorite experiences about high school is that I have had the opportunity to cheer competitively. It has shown me how to be cooperative and a team player. I have enjoyed working toward a common goal with my team. It has taught me how to set and strive for goals individually and together as a group.”

“It’s clear that she eats, sleeps and breathes cheerleading”

“We received many talented athletes throughout this season, which doesn’t make our job very easy,” explained Kelsie Shoemaker, AmeriCheer Event Manager. “Kylee stood out to us because she has tremendous passion, great technique, and humility. She is a great role model for anyone who struggle with motivation. Kylee became captain of her squad and was able to greatly motivate her team to win! We look for well rounded leaders and Kylee is just that!”

“Kylee is well known for her commitment to cheer and Ross Ram spirit. She’s cheered all three years of high school and wears maroon and gold with pride. It’s often that I hear from her about tumbling, practices, big wins, and tryouts. It’s clear that she eats, sleeps and breathes cheerleading,” commented Stacey Jones, English, Journalism, and Yearbook Teacher at RossHigh School.

Our second winner is Morgan Anderson, a senior from Champion Athletics Cheer & Dance says, “I love being a part of the younger girl’s lives and introducing them to this life changing sport. Cheerleading, especially all star, has taught me that any goal is attainable through hard work. I have acquired a great deal of self confidence through performing. When I am at the gym practicing, or out on the mat at competitions, all of my worries disappear. I can just be myself and I love every minute of it.”

“Her academic abilities are best illustrated by her 4.00 GPA which ranks her first in her class. Morgan has maintained this high degree of academic excellence while taking a very demanding course load which includes advanced placement and college courses. She is also actively involved at the high school and in the community,” commented Kenton Stillwell, Science Department Head.

“I love being a part of the younger girl’s lives and introducing them to this life changing sport.”

“Morgan is a very talented girl,” explained Kelsie Shoemaker, AmeriCheer Event Manager. “She does a great job balancing school and other responsibilities. She has a natural tenacity for coaching and influencing younger girl’s lives. We felt Morgan had the poise, influence, and skill to shape others around her.”

Kylee and Morgan will both receive a $1,000 college scholarship. Kylee will focus on NICU nursing at theUniversity of Cincinnati starting in the fall of 2019. Morgan will be attending MuskingumUniversity in the fall in hopes of becoming a veterinarian one day.

“We are thrilled to be one of the only cheer/dance companies providing college scholarships to graduating seniors through our AmeriCheer Athlete Scholarship Program,” notes Liz Rossetti, President and Founder of AmeriCheer. “Not only are we offering our athletes tremendous opportunities, but we are furthering their education as well.
